Avengers | Yo, Who Was That Purple Guy?

THANOS by QuinteroART1 300x300 Avengers | Yo, Who Was That Purple Guy?If you waited and watched the mid-credit teaser– who the hell didn’t– than I’m sure you were either looking on grinning ear to ear with tears of elation…. or left just scratching your head wondering who the hell is this guy with the huge purple chin. For those who aren’t fanboys, the guy with the ugly mug is one bad bad dude named Thanos and it’s quickly revealed that he’s the figure behind curtain– or rather blackhole gateway– in fact puppeting Loki into attacking Earth.

If you haven’t already done your wiki research, the character has been thumping around for nearly 4 decades making a name as one of the most devious and powerful enemies to hit the Marvel scene. Before I warp your mind, it’s worth noting that this guy’s got some interesting history. Hailing from Saturn’s moon Titan, Thanos’s species the Deviants, are a superpowered off shoot of another sentient life form that evolutioned to be badass super humans–essentially making Thanos that weird cousin you don’t want anyone to know is in your family. If that wasn’t weird enough, the guy is named after the greek god Thanatos, the personification of death and morality, Thanos is in fact infatuated with the embodiment of death in the Marvelverse– no wonder they also call him the Mad Titan. While I’m sure his history will get a few rewrites, Thanos’s fantastical origins and mythos is exactly what is needed in the Avenger movies and chronology, it’s no wonder the head honchos dug up this scowling MFer.

Also, while the mid-credit scene was the first official acknowledgment of the Mad Titan, his involvement in the future has been hinted at a few times in the past; most notably during Comic Con with the showcase of the Infinity Gauntlet or it’s presence in Odin’s armory during Thor. But let us know what you thought of Thanos’s cameo, is he the right villain for the sequel? What do you think his motives will be?

Halo 4 | Release Date Confirmed

NOVEMBER 6, 2012!
halo 4 20110606000004291 Halo 4 | Release Date Confirmed

Mark that day in your calendar and go ahead and ask your boss for some vacation time cause Halo 4 will make it’s way to stands and into the consoles of millions by the end of this year.

Following rumors across the web and some more than intriguing tweets– thank you social media– it was confirmed earlier today that the XBOX’s most celebrated hero would be kicking ass once again on November 6. With much speculation about the release of the next COD, it’s no wonder Halo 4 is trying to break into the fall earlier than it’s celebrated competitor. Either way it’s going to be a busy November and I can’t wait to Spartan kick, Battle Rifle and Energy Sword my way to that Killionaire medal. But what do you think of the news? Will you be reserving your copy? Are you more excited for the next Duty or for Master Chief’s return?

Game of Thrones: “What is Dead May Never Die” | Review

As the series continues to pick up pace, “What is Dead May Never Die” keeps pushing conflicts closer to their brinking points, hacks off even more characters, delivers more steamy scenes but continues to diverge more and more from the novels.

GameofThrones203 300x233 Game of Thrones: What is Dead May Never Die | Review

If you aren’t familiar with the books, each chapter gives the reader a window into the eyes of a different character, while still allowing an unbias delivery and on top of that some of the books even cover the same time period and are just to throw even more families and agendas into the mix. With that said it makes sense that HBO has begun to shift away from the books, slightly speeding up the storyline, cutting a few scenes here and there and even taking a few liberties of there own. So even though Daenerys and Robb Stark got left out to dry during “What is Dead May Never Die,” it was only to introduce to even more new characters in the form of Margaery Tyrell and Brienne of Tarth.

Overall: 8/10
As always we want to hear your thoughts and opinions, what’d of the latest episode? What characters do you think will make it out of this season? Do you think the series will continue to veer away from the books?

On a Side Note:

  • The episode covers material from chapters 2, 15, 18, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 29 and 45 (Tyrion II, Arya IV, Tyrion IV, Arya V, Tyrion V, Catelyn II, Jon III, Theon II, Tyrion VI, Bran IV and Tyrion X)
  • “What is dead may never die” is a saying in the faith of the Drowned God on the Iron Islands. The answer to the phrase is “But rises again harder and stronger.” In the episode the phrase is begun by Theon Greyjoyduring his baptism and completed by the Drowned Priest conducting the ceremony.
  • Renly’s sexual relationship with Loras was implied in the books, but happened largely “off-screen”. Author George R.R. Martin has confirmed that they were lovers. The book series (as of the fifth book, at least) was never clear on exactly to what extent Margaery Tyrell knew about her brother’s relationship with Renly, or what her feelings regarding it were.

How I Met Your Mother: “The Broath” | Review

HIMYM broath How I Met Your Mother: “The Broath” | ReviewFor this, and future HIMYM reviews rather than explaining the scenes and going over the jokes I want to give you guys a quick overview of the plot and then just tell you if the episode was ehhh, good, or great! I realize most of you read online reviews after you’ve seen the show and are just looking for a different view so here we go full spoilers below.

“The Broath” in a nutshell was an episode where the gang goes to dinner at Quinn’s (Barney’s new girlfriend) apartment. Upon meeting Quinn the group is instantly concerned that she is playing him for his money and call a “Quinntervention” to save Barney from making a mistake. Little do they know the joke is on them as the enire night down to the smallest detail was maniacally planned by both Quinn and Barney. This leads to the group accepting her as one of their own since, obviously, Quinn and Barney seem to work well together. Elsewhere Marshall feels left out because all his sex stories are obviously about Lily (man oo man is she a freak), and Robin and Ted are still in a uncomfortable place because of their falling out in last month’s episode.

Now with the plot out of the way this episode to me was ehhh. It’s been a reoccuring trend this season that the writers are risking character traits and ideals for the sake of trying to get a few laughs. For the most part, even though I’m not a fan of that I have enjoyed the jokes but this week it was a little much.

Marshall really got under my skin, for seven years Jason Segel has done a great job making Marshall a caring love above all else character. With that said his unrelenting coughing to get everyone including Barney to put Quinn in front of every In-word is not something he would do. Yes maybe the first two times he might have done that just to lighten the mood but with the seriousness and gravity of the situation he would’ve stopped and tried to help. It’s little details like this that ruin episodes for me.

Then there is Robin and Ted, the engage in the apartment war where their usual back and forth takes place like any other episode only to have that awkward moment in the hall that felt pushed in just to let us know they aren’t ok. I would’ve rather seen them not talk the entire episode (which we all would’ve noticed) and then have that hall/ final scene.

HIMYM broath2 How I Met Your Mother: “The Broath” | Review

Lastly there’s Quinn, I have been trying very hard to accept Quinn into the group but no matter what I do something just feels off. I don’t know if it’s because the others have been around for so long, or if I just don’t beleive she could tame Barney but I don’t like here. The scene where her and Barney are talking about the master plan and she does the “wait for it” line bothered me and the dary she exclaims after he “fills her in” didn’t feel right. I find comedy and value in having the characters acting and reacting as they would/should. This show is in it’s seventh season and the characters are well defined, losing track of that is the reason the ratings have been on a decline…

5/10

That’s pretty much how “The Broath” made me feel so now is the part I really like tell me your thoughts below, did you like “The Broath”? Are you a fan of Quinn?

Game of Thrones: Season 2 | “Price For Our Sins” Preview

As April quickly approaches more and more information, videos, pictures, and interviews for the second season of Game of Thrones come pouring in. Today another trailer was released and I’ve already started preparing for the premiere. With tensions just climaxing as the first season came to a close, I know I can attest for most that April 1st couldn’t arrive any sooner and with the trailer showing off even more characters, foreshadowing ominous repercussions, and looking sexier than ever, I feel like 8 year old girl at a Justin Bieber concert. But quit listening to me and check out the trailer below:
